Founded in 1962, Siège Social Cométal resides in Lévis Québec, focusing on manufacturing architectural and mechanical equipment for commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings. The building exterior was made to draw attention to its architecture, capturing what they stand for as a company.

The name of La "Shop" is a tribute to the roots of Quebec, shaped by what industrialization has brought to the table for many workers. Today, LaShop Architecture is a tight-knit team working to translate client visions into reality, carrying out projects across Quebec and Ontario.

THE RIGHT MATERIAL

The incorporation of Trespa® Pura® as the main material of the facades perfectly met architectural demands. There was a need for a quality coating offering a lineage and colouring that was both distinctive in its richness and sober in its dark colour. Trespa® Pura® and Trespa® Meteon® paired together created high contrast amongst the top and bottom of the building adding a striated lineage perfect for the concept.

Accentuation of the lines of tension was also apparent by the harsh differentiation between the two main volumes of the building, being the glass on one side and the opaque atrium opposite from the rear side.

WHAT DID THE TRICK

In order to mark the main entrance which does not face the street, the decision was made to use the Trespa® Meteon® Metalic coating, providing the benefits of its bright colour and polarized pigmentation. This created a mosaic look causing different tones to appear when the panels were turned on different angles, utilizing the polarized and directional reflection. Thus a perfect dynamic "pattern" for the entrance was created.

The specific colours selected for this project were Trespa® Meteon® M53.0.1 Cooper red and Trespa® Pura® PU22 Slate Ebony, installed with ATS710.

Being Cométal's head office means it needs to stand out, especially being a company that specializes in the manufacture and supply of architectural products and mechanical equipment. Aluminum scraper grilles, louvers, sun visors, and canopies are just some of the hundreds of products offered by the company. In total, 5,634 sq ft of durable Trespa® material was used.

Going to LaShop means continuing a tradition of hard work to build the world of tomorrow. After working there for 8 years, first as an intern, then as a project architect, Philippe Beaulieu took over from the firm Dominique Blais Architecte in 2017. Philippe thus perpetuates the tradition of the firm founded in 1985 in Lévis by keeping the same team in place on the premises of rue Pierre-Beaumont. This is how, rich in experience and know-how of more than 30 years, LaShop Architecture takes off in a new era.
